A woman in Apex, N.C. found an unwelcomed surprise at the bottom of her Domino’s Pizza receipt reports WRAL.com. Carla Robinson said she ordered two pizzas from the national chain eatery on Aug. 20. After her delivery was made, her 10-year-old niece pointed out the phrase “N word” and “Don’t Tip” was printed at the bottom of the receipt. Upon finding the racial slur Robinson said she reported the incident to the store manager who then fired the delivery driver.

Robinson said that since then she has been receiving threatening phone calls to her home. “They were saying basically the same stuff that was on the receipt. They were saying ‘N-this, you got me fired, you did this, you did that,’ just being real ugly to me, just being real mean,” Robinson said. “I’m thinking it is 2010, it’s never good to do that. You can’t do stuff like that anymore.”

In a broadcast interview with ABC11, Robinson said she recorded some of the harassing calls. She said the delivery driver that was fired called her to complain about her getting him fired and used the “N word.” However, she did not record that phone call.

According to ABC11 the ousted delivery driver contacted the news station stating that he did in fact print the racial slur on the receipt after being angry about not receiving tips from Black customers, including Robinson. He reportedly told them that he is sorry for his actions but he is not responsible for the harassing calls to the woman’s home.

Pat O’Leary, the owner of the outlet issued a statement publicly apologizing for the incident according to WRAL. “I’m horrified this occurred. This was the action of a lone individual and it does not reflect my views,” he said. “Upon learning of the incident, the general manager of the store fired the responsible person immediately. I have reached out to the customer and offered my sincere apology.”

The Wake County Sherriff is reportedly investigating the phone calls.
