The NAACP Youth and College Division will hold their annual convention, which gathers members from over 600 youth councils, high school and college chapters July 11-15 in Kansas City, Mo.

The convention will be held concurrently with the NAACP’s 101st Annual Convention. “This year’s Youth and College Convention is an opportunity for the NAACP to harness the energy and creativity displayed by young members nationwide who want to create change and have a louder voice concerning issues that affect them,” said National Field and Youth and College Division Director Stefanie Brown in a statement. “With the unveiling of the Youth Civil Rights Agenda, among other upcoming initiatives, the NAACP is poised to show that youth is and will continue to be at the forefront of civil and human rights.”

The 2010 gathering will highlight the NAACP’s new civil rights agenda and allow members to discuss legislation affecting young adults. They will also attend various workshops and enjoy appearances by R&B star, Monica and actress, Tatyana Ali.
