NAACP BALTIMORE LAUNCH STAY HOME BALTIMORE
EDUCATION CAMPAIGN AND INITIATIVE

Local Influencers and Celebrities Join NAACP in Effort to Increase Awareness About COVID-19 Health Crisis in Baltimore

BALTIMORE, MD –In response to the growing coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis, the Baltimore Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is partnering with the Baltimore City influencers to encourage residents to stay at home and if they absolutely have to leave to wear face coverings. The goal is to encourage residents to stay home and provide information and resources to those in need. The first phase of the initiative is a social media influencer campaign and the second phase is the large sound truck wrapped in signage that will drive various routes through the city. The truck will be playing soundbites from many of Baltimore’s very own asking people to stop the spread of COVID-19 by staying home, social distancing and wearing face coverings. NAACP Baltimore President, Rev. Kobi Little released the statement below:

“While the coronavirus is impacting all of us it is hitting resource-limited African American communities nearly twice as much. We have a responsibility to ensure that those who may not watch the news or be on email lists receive the information and resources that they need to remain safe and healthy through this pandemic. The Baltimore NAACP is leading by sharing information and resources, listening to the needs of the community and advocating for resources. We are meeting people where they are. As the NAACP unites Baltimore to follow the best practices shared by public health and government officials, we also urge governments and institutions to approach this crisis with an equity and inclusion lens that protects, supports and includes those who are vulnerable and too often marginalized.”
