While it appears that the hip-hop industry is mostly comprised of glitz, glamour and groupies, many are unaware of its cruel, harsh and sometimes dangerous realities. The Next Hit, a suspenseful thriller distributed by Barnholtz Entertainment, offers a fictional tale set in the rap world that exposes these realities and provides a glimpse into the industry’s dark side.

Amid declining record sales, label giant Super Star Records’ marquee rapper is murdered as a result of violent industry turf wars. Shortly thereafter, the label sees an unexpected twist of fate when record sales begin to hit the roof. Despite the upturn, the rapper’s death still remains a mystery.

After the dead rapper’s friend Rod, (rapper Fredro Starr) is suspected of knowing more about his slain friend’s demise, his life is put in danger and he and his girlfriend, (actress Lark Voorhies) soon go on the run. But unbeknownst to him, the reason for his friend’s murder is not what it appears to be and the culprits are harboring right under his nose.

Also starring in the film is a lineup of real life platinum-selling rap artists including Flo Rida, Rick Ross and N.O.R.E, one half of the chart-topping group Capone-N-Noreaga.

“The Next Hit” will be released on DVD on Sept. 14. For more information, visit:
