Two brothers have been arrested in the Feb. 7 beating death of a pregnant woman outside of a Philadelphia traffic court.

The pair, 28-year-old Walter Williams and 29-year-old Robert Canada, allegedly attacked Tovoyia Owens in broad daylight. Williams was charged with murder and Canada was charged with simple and aggravated assault.

Reports say Owens and her boyfriend were leaving the courthouse when they got into an altercation with a group of men with which Owens’ boyfriend had a longstanding feud.

Police said it was a chance encounter that occurred as the couple was trying to recover an impounded car.

Witnesses say they then saw a group of men attack the couple. According to Philadelphia Weekly, when police responded to the scene, they found Owens suffering from severe trauma to the neck. She was rushed to a Philadelphia hospital and pronounced dead at 3:10 p.m.

“We saw all these guys, like, beating this girl,” David Cole, a witness, told NBC 10 in Philadelphia. “And she was pregnant, and like, no one tried to help.”

Owens was four months pregnant and was already the mother to a three-year-old daughter, Azaih, according to various reports.

Owens’ family is grief-stricken and told Philadelphia ABC affiliate WPVI that she was a good person.

“She’s a beautiful person, to know her is to love her,” Owens’ father, Frank Walker said.

Owens’ godmother agreed with Walker, and called her goddaughter one of the nicest people she knew.

“Toya was a very special person, she loved all, she would help whoever,” Owens’ godmother Lisa Brown said.

The family will now turn its attention to caring after Azaih.

“You know, I have my grandbaby left to deal with,” Walker told WPVI. “So I have a baby ‘Toya now and it’s in the hands of the courts and these gentlemen, that’s their business,”
