Ronald (Ronnie) Roswell Powell was born on April 26, 1942 the second of two children of the late James and Hattie Powell for whom he had intense love. He fell asleep in death on Nov. 19. He was preceded in death by his older brother James Edward Powell Jr. who died at the age of 39. This had a tremendous impact on his life. At the age of 17 Ronnie met his wife of 47 years, June Lottier, and began a courtship that lasted five years. They were married on June 20, 1964. Two children were born of the marriage, his daughter Ronea and his son Ronnie. He intensely loved his children and was a good provider. He was also the baseball coach for his son’s little league baseball team. As a child Ronnie was shy, as an adult he had a very fiery personality and was well liked by many. He adopted Lucy Campbell (who studied the Bible with his Mom) as his second Mom. He also had a great love and affection for his childhood friend and dentist, Donald Parker who supported him throughout his illness. Most of his adult life he pursued his passion for golf and spent many years of his life golfing and traveling.

Ronnie was educated in the Baltimore City Schools. He proudly graduated from Dunbar High School in 1959 and from Morgan State University in 1964. He then began his career of twenty seven years with the federal government with the Department of Defense in St. Louis, Missouri.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife, June, his two children, Ronea Griffin (his son-in-law, David), his son Ronnie (his daughter in law, Crystal); four sister- in- laws, Virginia Parham (husband Richard); Sadie Smith (husband Glen); Deborah Stafford (husband Guy; and Patricia Lottier (husband George, deceased); his brother-in-law, David Lottier, (wife Lacretia); many loved nieces and nephews, other family members, a large spiritual family and numerous friends.

Services will be held 11 a.m., Nov. 25, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 5624 Old Court Road in Randallstown.
