On Oct. 21 the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, located on Constitution Avenue, NW between 12th and 14th Streets,  is scheduled to hold  a 2017 Archives Fair: Performance and Preservation from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The presentation highlights the work of a leading staff editorial cartoonist of the Afro-American Newspaper, Baltimore artist Thomas A. Stockett, from 1955–2007. Stockett’s visual aesthetic is presented with emphasis on the political views expressed through his work and the role of visual art in the Afro’s legacy of social, cultural, and political advocacy on behalf of African Americans and the African Diaspora. The event is free and open to the public.
