The Ravens weren’t the only team from Baltimore featured in a Thursday night football special. Unfortunately for the Morgan State Bears, they didn’t have nearly as much success as the Ravens, falling to the South Carolina State (SCSU) Bulldogs, 32-10, in an ESPNU televised game at Hughes Stadium in Baltimore.
SCSU completely dominated Morgan State on both sides of the line of scrimmage. On offense, the Bulldogs gained 334 total yards, 247 yards picked up in the first half as they earned a 24-10 lead before halftime. On defense, the Bulldogs recorded eight sacks and limited the Bears to just 183 offensive yards in the first half before shutting them down to minus-29 yards in the second half.
“They blitzed me a lot,” Bears quarterback Delonte Williams said. “My offensive line really wasn’t picking up the blitz. played a good defense.” SCSU now advances to a 8-2 overall record, 6-1 against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponents.
“They’re a good team,” Morgan State coach Donald Hill-Eley said. “The guys played hard. That’s what I was looking for.”
The Bears now fall to 4-6 overall on the season, 3-4 MEAC, after losing their third straight game. Morgan State will close out its season at home against the Hampton Pirates on Nov. 20 at Hughes Stadium.
