April 7–1100 Eaton RoadA Southeast Washington dirt bike rider was pushed from his dirt bike, robbed of his bike, and later shot by one of two assailants on April 7, in the 1100 block of Eaton Road, D.C. police said.

The youth, who was not identified because he is a minor, was riding near his home about 4 p.m. when he was approached by two men, one of whom pushed him off his bike and stole it.

The youth then went to his home where the second assailant confronted him and shot him, police said.  

He is the latest victim of dirt bike assaults in which the rider is pushed from the vehicle. He was treated for lacerations and a non-life threatening gunshot wound and released from a local hospital. One of the assailants was arrested.

April 7—2700 Langston PlaceOn April 7 there was a report of a shooting in the 2700 block of Langston Place, S.E Investigators found a young male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The victim was identified as 16-year-old Darius Cannon of Southeast.

April 9–2500 Sheridan RoadThis incident was the latest of a span of violence for the week of April 7. On April 9, D.C.  police responded to a fatal police-involved shooting in the 2500 block of Sheridan Road in Southeast, which left one man dead.

The suspect in this shooting was allegedly under the influence of narcotics and exchanged fire with police before he was shot dead by D.C. police. The victim has been identified as 34 year-old Cleman Richard Sweptson Jr. of Southeast.

So far this year there have been 19 homicides compared to the 18 homicides from 2012, and there have been 1,010 robberies, compared to 1,088 in 2012.
