According to The Associated Press, protestors outraged at news of a concert by R&B singer Akon hurled stones at Sri Lankan broadcast headquarters. Four workers were injured and the building was damaged.
Police spokesman Prishantha Jayakody said the group of protestors were taken into custody after throwing rocks at the Majaraja Organization, who is sponsoring the concert scheduled for April in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
According to the report, about 200 people gathered outside the building and began throwing stones, which shattered several office windows and damaged cars parked near the building.
Signs were left at the scene that read, “Stop Akon’s Show,” the AP reported.
Some Sri Lankans are accusing Akon, a Senegalese-American raised in Africa and New Jersey, of desecrating the image of Buddha in his music video “Sexy Chick,” which features women dancing suggestively near a Buddha statue.
The AP reported that a group of armed men attacked the same studio last year, unloading rounds of gunfire and tossing hand grenades. However, there was no visible motive for that attack.
