109-year-old veteran and Orioles fan throws ceremonial first pitch in season opener

Trevor Rogers delivered seven shutout innings to lead the Baltimore Orioles to a 2-1 opening day win over the Minnesota Twins. After a scoreless pitching duel, Baltimore broke through in the seventh inning with RBIs from Colton Cowser and Blaze Alexander. The Twins scored once in the eighth, but closer Ryan Helsley secured the win with a dominant ninth inning.

Baltimore mayor responds to scrutiny over staffers’ use of procurement card

A recent OIG report says that the Baltimore Mayor’s Office failed to follow policies for 336 procurement card transactions totaling $167,455.06, including purchases for food, flowers and sporting events. The questioned spending represents less than 1 percent of the office’s $36 million in P-card use since June 2022.

MLB greenlights Rubenstein’s purchase of the Orioles 

David Rubenstein has officially become the new owner of the Baltimore Orioles after MLB approved the $1.7-billion sale of the team to his investor group, including notable figures such as Cal Ripken Jr., former Baltimore Mayor Kurt Schmoke and Washington Spirit Owner Michele Kang.
