Representatives Ivey, Scanlon, and Neguse reintroduce the Raise the Age Act

Congressman Glenn Ivey, Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon and Assistant Democratic Leader Joe Neguse reintroduced the Raise the Age Act, which would increase the minimum age to purchase semiautomatic rifles from 18 to 21, aligning it with the legal age for handgun purchases. The bill, supported by 114 original cosponsors and endorsed by multiple gun violence prevention organizations, aims to reduce mass shootings by restricting access to these weapons for individuals under 21.
