Johnson reportedly told Hillsborough County police that he tried to pack his things to leave the house during the argument, but claims the unidentified girlfriend followed him into the bedroom and continued “verbally berating” him. Johnson also claimed the woman began “tussling at his back” and “pushed him off his knee roller” before her son eventually joined in on the tussle. That’s when Johnson said he pushed the boy away, reached for his Glock 22 (.40 caliber) gun and shot the woman, then shot her son next.

According to Fox News, Johnson had lived with the single mother for nearly a year before the fatal incident. He was arrested and charged with murder, along with aggravated child abuse.
