Three Los Angeles teachers have been suspended after they gave their students pictures of Dennis Rodman, O.J. Simpson, and RuPaul to carry in a Black History Month Parade, the Associated Press reported.

Los Angeles School District spokeswoman Gayle Pollard-Terry told the AP on March 3 that the teachers’ suspension from Wadsworth Elementary School was caused by their poor choice of African-Americans to feature in the parade. She says the teachers, who are White, could have featured more appropriate Black figures, such as Oprah Winfrey.

Terry said the parade was held on February 26 with other children carrying photos of Nelson Mandela, Harriet Tubman and President Obama.

The teachers will remain on administrative leave until the investigation is complete.
