In the Wake of Hobby Lobby Decision, Cardin to Visit Greater Baden Medical Center to Discuss Women’s Health

A majority of the Supreme Court has put the health of American women at risk

TODAY/Monday, July 7 at 1:30PM, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-Md.) will visit the Greater Baden Medical Center in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Just days after the Supreme Court ruled against women’s rights in the Burwell v. Hobby Lobby decision, Senator Cardin will tour the facility and hear from medical professionals about the importance of providing women a full range of health care services, including contraception and contraceptive counseling.

“Whether a woman uses contraception should be a private decision not subject to a financial veto by her employer. The Affordable Care Act guarantees the majority of women coverage for comprehensive preventive health services, including contraception.  Imposing additional financial burdens on a woman because her employer claims to hold certain beliefs contrary to the law is harmful and sets a dangerous precedent,” said Senator Cardin.
