The Garwyn Oaks community in Northwest Baltimore is offering a creative kick-off to the summer with the Arts in the Park festival. On June 11 from noon to 5 p.m., all are invited for a day of fun in the sun at Hanlon Park between Gwynns Falls Parkway and Hilton Street.

Arts in the Park will be a day of live musical entertainment, exhibits, food and fun for all age groups. Hosted by Garwyn Oaks Northwest Housing Resource Center, (GONorthwest), the festival will include special features such as the Children’s Village, which will allow young and old to come together and use their creative talents in a positive way. While art may be the inspiration for the festival, GONorthwest representatives say there are underlying motives for the day of excitement.

“With the Arts in the Park festival, GONorthwest hopes to attract new home buyers to this community by showcasing what makes the community so great,” said Mereida Goodman, executive director of GONorthwest, in a recent press release. “This community is built of truly friendly, hard working residents; beautiful homes and safe and sprawling recreational resources such as Hanlon Park.”

The Arts in the Park festival is just one of the many programs sponsored by GONorthwest throughout the year. The organization also provides homeownership services and hosts initiatives for block beautification and sustainable living projects.
