Franchot to Spend Monday in Montgomery County

Comptroller to Present Silver Hammer Award, Honor Local Businesses

WHO:             Comptroller Peter Franchot

WHAT:           Comptroller Franchot will present the 2016 Silver Hammer Award for Montgomery County to Captain James Daly Elementary School in Germantown this morning. The school was nominated because it earned a 92.7% rating on its most recent maintenance report. The buildingโ€™s exterior, structural condition, windows, doors and plumbing system earned superior ratings from state inspectors.

Mr. Franchot then will visit Maryland Soccerplex and Discovery Sports Center in Boyds to present a proclamation to Executive Director Trish Heffelfinger. In the 2016 legislative session, District 15 lawmakers were instrumental in obtaining $500,000 in the Stateโ€™s FY17 capital budget for the acquisition, planning, design, construction, repair, renovation, reconstruction and capital equipping of the soccer fields.

In the afternoon, the Comptroller will visit Milanoโ€™s Pizza, Pasta and Catering in Germantown to present a proclamation to owner Tony Tassbihi. Milanoโ€™s, which was established on an Italian culinary foundation and with Tassbihi possessing decades of experience in the restaurant industry, offers a variety of specialty pizza, pasta, calzones and restaurant-style entrees, salads and desserts.
