Franchot to Spend Monday in Montgomery County
Comptroller to Present Silver Hammer Award, Honor Local Businesses
WHO: Comptroller Peter Franchot
WHAT: Comptroller Franchot will present the 2016 Silver Hammer Award for Montgomery County to Captain James Daly Elementary School in Germantown this morning. The school was nominated because it earned a 92.7% rating on its most recent maintenance report. The buildingโs exterior, structural condition, windows, doors and plumbing system earned superior ratings from state inspectors.
Mr. Franchot then will visit Maryland Soccerplex and Discovery Sports Center in Boyds to present a proclamation to Executive Director Trish Heffelfinger. In the 2016 legislative session, District 15 lawmakers were instrumental in obtaining $500,000 in the Stateโs FY17 capital budget for the acquisition, planning, design, construction, repair, renovation, reconstruction and capital equipping of the soccer fields.
In the afternoon, the Comptroller will visit Milanoโs Pizza, Pasta and Catering in Germantown to present a proclamation to owner Tony Tassbihi. Milanoโs, which was established on an Italian culinary foundation and with Tassbihi possessing decades of experience in the restaurant industry, offers a variety of specialty pizza, pasta, calzones and restaurant-style entrees, salads and desserts.
